December Roundup

Monday, January 8, 2018

Sorry for my lack of posts lately. My work schedule has been all over the place, and I have not really had much time off. When I have a day off, I have been spending it sleeping so I can prepare for the next shift. Since I had this past weekend off, I've been writing a lot of blog posts that I can publish throughout the week for days where I am too busy to write posts. I thought I'd start my first post with my December Roundup.

At the beginning of this month, I caught up on all of my Christmas shopping, and I made sure that I had gifts for everyone on my list.  I met up with two of my best friends and we went to HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, grabbing IHOP and ended up making a whole day out of it. After we went back to my apartment and had a girls night in complete with snacks and movies. It was a super fun day and I love catching up with my friends.

This year was my first year working my first full time job since graduating college. Unfortunately, healthcare never sleeps so us as nurses have to work on holidays, including Christmas. This year I had to work Christmas Eve since I'm on night shifts right now. I was more than happy to work on a holiday, if it meant making my patients night little brighter. I cannot imagine being in the hospital instead of with your loved ones on the holidays, so I did not think twice about working on Christmas. It was truly a blessing to serve others on Christmas eve.

For Christmas I was fortunate enough to go home and spend time with my loved ones. I traveled home Christmas day, and spent four days at home with my family. I had so much fun spending time at home, and catching up with my family and friends. I always appreciate any time that I get to spend with my family even if it is only for a short period of time. I'm already counting down the days until I can see them again!

While I was home, I went to Times Square with one of my best friends from high school. We went shopping for a bit, and then went out to dinner at a delicious mexican restaurant. We had not seen each other in a few months so it was really nice to finally sit down and catch up. The city was beautiful but was absolutely freezing. We had to stop at multiple stores on the way to the restaurant just so we could defrost.

To end the month I celebrated New Years Eve. I had two nights in a row off, so I went down to Richmond to visit my Uncle and my cousins who came down from Boston to visit. I only stayed in Richmond for two days, but I had so much fun spending time with all of my cousins.
We ate a delicious dinner, watched New Years Rockin' Eve, and had an impromptu photo shoot. Hope everyone had a great December!
