Year in Review | 2016 Favorites

Since it is New Year's Eve, I figured that today was an appropriate time to post some of my favorite things about this year. 2016 has been a year of both ups and downs for me. I've faced many challenges, but I've also experienced moments of personal growth. Although 2016 was not my favorite year to date, I think I have really found myself this year, and am finally truly content and happy. That being said, I wanted to share my favorite things about 2016 as we say goodbye to 2016, and hello to the new year. Here are my top four favorite things of 2016:

  1. Coffee: I have ALWAYS been a huge coffee lover, and I have been drinking it since I was a Freshman in High School, but this year I've gotten way more into coffee, and I have an unhealthy obsession. My favorite coffee was cold brew, so much so that the barista at my University's Starbucks calls me "Cold Brew Carly" now and starts making my coffee for me when I walk in. It has become my routine.
  2. Spending Time with Friends: I have always love hanging out with my friends, but I always invest most of my time studying, that I don't find that I have enough time to have a normal social life. This year, I've made it more of a priority to spend more time with my friends, and enjoy my last year of college (holy crap, when did I grow up). To be honest, this has made a significant difference in my happiness.
  3. Focusing on Myself: This year has been a huge year of personal growth for me. I finally decided I needed to figure out what I must do in order to make myself happy, and attempted to achieve each one of those goals. Although I have a lot more to accomplish, I feel so incredibly proud of myself for working so hard to achieve the things that I have wanted for so long. It feels good to work towards my personal growth, and taught me a lot about myself. Learning to be a little selfish has been fulfilling, and made me learn to love myself.
  4. Trying New Things: This year I have tried a lot of new things and I mean A LOT.  I have hung out with friends more, taken new classes, tried new foods and become more involved in student organizations. I have never felt more daring and adventurous in my life but I'm loving every second of it. Trying new things has helped me grow, and learn more about myself. I hope to continue trying more things.
I am personally really looking forward to 2017, especially because I am graduating nursing school in May which is a HUGE accomplishment for me, and I can't believe I'm almost done with nursing school, and am a step closer to being a nurse. Hope everyone has a wonderful year!!
