Review | Graze Box Subscription

Friday, July 31, 2015

I recently just received my second Graze Box in the mail and wanted to review it for you guys as promised. Unlike my other reviews, where I only talked about my opinions on the first box, I wanted to do something a bit different with this review, and decided to wait until I'd received a couple boxes before reviewing them so that I could share my honest opinion on the subscription service. anyway, lets get talk about Graze. The Graze Box comes with four or eight snack variety boxes, or you can buy the snack bag box, which comes with five large bags of your favorite snacks (same concept as NatureBox, just more expensive). One thing I like about Graze is that they have a bunch of options of snack boxes to select from, whereas with NatureBox, you can only choose from one type of box. In addition to being able to choose the amount and size of the snacks you buy,  you can also select to receive a box that contains only sweet snacks, or only savory snacks. Cool right? This box is also a weekly subscription, instead of a monthly one which has its ups and downs. I went for the 4 snack variety box which is $6.99 per week. The 8 snack variety box is $11.99 per week, and the sharing box which has the five bags of snacks is $25 per month or one time only. so far I really like this subscription box service, and think I'm going to stick with it over NatureBox. The only negative thing I would say is that the size of the snacks is fairly small, but they are delicious either way!

Use the code "CARLYC9VP" at checkout to get the first AND fifth box free!

(this post was not sponsored, I pay weekly for my subscription, and members are given promo codes to share).

Haul | "Spash!" Lush Gift Box

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

last weekend my boyfriend and I both went on "vacation." I put vacation in quotes because he went home for the weekend to visit his family and friends, and I stayed here down in DC, but my mom came to visit me for a Mother Daughter spa weekend and we stayed in a hotel. I got back on Saturday, and he came in Sunday and I went to go pick him up from the train station. When I saw him, he surprised me with this gift box from LUSH just because. It was such a sweet gesture, not to mention, I love everything in here! This is their "Splash!" gift box. I've never tried some of these before, others I have (and they're my favorites) so I'm excited to use everything! What's in the box?

  1. Seanik Shampoo Bar
  2. Woosh Shower Jelly
  3. Sea Vegetable Soap
  4. Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub (one of my all time favorites)
  5. Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter
If you would like a detailed review about any one of these products, let me know in the comment section below!

Review | Ipsy Glam Bag (July)

Monday, July 27, 2015

as I mentioned in a previous post, I've recently decided to try out some subscription box services to see what all of the hype is about. I've subscribed to two food box (Graze and Naturebox), and two beauty box (Ipsy and Birchbox) services. I decided I would try two of each and keep the subscriptions I like the best. I finally got the July Ipsy Glam bag in the mail a few days ago. I wasn't sure if I was going to get a bag this month because they put everyone on a waitlist when you sign up (one thing I don't like about the company), but it's finally here for me to review. All of the Glam bags comes in small cosmetic bag. The subscription service costs $10 a month and comes with five different deluxe size beauty samples and each bag is different. This month, the Glam bag had the following (from left-right):
  1. Jor'el Parker Classico Perfume - I absolutely hate the smell of this perfume. I typically like perfumes that are a fruity or floral scent. This perfume smells like an old lady type of perfume, and I most likely will not use it.

  2. Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Lip Balm in "French Kiss" - This is just a basic lip balm. It is a light pink color and smells delicious. I liked this product, but it doesn't do anything different than any other lip balms out there.

  3. Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics 2-in-1 Shadow Liner - I typically don't go for brown eyeliners, but this is a pretty copper color that can be used as an eyeliner or as an eyeshadow pencil (similar to NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils), which I think is really cool, but I'm most likely going to be using this product as a eyeshadow base.

  4. Eau Thermale Avene Clearance Gel - This is a gel based facial cleanser that is supposed to remove oil from your face and rid of impurities. I haven't tried this yet so I will post an individual review in a later blog post.

  5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in "Park Avenue Princess" - This is BY FAR my favorite product I received in the July Glam Bag. This is a gorgeous mauve color with beautiful pigmentation. The only thing I didn't like about it is the fact that it's shimmery, but it still looks beautiful as either a blush or a highlighter!

Overall, I was disappointed by this months (and my first ever) glam bag, However, I am most likely going to keep the subscription until next month, and see if I get any samples then because I may have just received a bad bag.

Oil, Acne, and Pores OH MY!

Sunday, July 26, 2015

my skin has been breaking out like crazy lately, especially on my chin area (most likely from stress from school) so I decided to stop at lush and pick up the Catastrophe Cosmetic fresh face mask. I've actually tried this mask in the past, and I really liked it so wanted to try it again. It has blueberries which are very high in antioxidants, which are used to help replenish the skin, chamomile to reduce redness, as well as Irish Moss and calamine to lessen pores. I love this stuff, it makes your skin feel super smooth, reduces redness, removes grime and diminishes your acne.

Haul | Bath and Body Works

Saturday, July 25, 2015

I went to Bath & Body works the other day and decided to pick up a few things. I'm almost out of the current body wash I'm using so I decided to get some new ones while I was out. They had the 2 for $20 deal so I figured that I'd get two (normally $12.50 each). I got the Oahu Coconut Sunset and French Lavender & Honey. Not that I need any more candles, but this scent smelled amazing and it was on sale for only $12 (normally $22) and I decided grab it.

Beauty Box Subscriptions | Which to Choose?

Friday, July 24, 2015

recently I have been considering subscribing to a beauty box/bag service, but I am having a lot of trouble deciding which one. I've seen a lot of people review each one of these, and they all seem worthy of subscribing to. The Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox are both $10 a month, while Glossybox is $21 each month so I am considering trying both for a month or so to see which one I like better, and then I'll decide which one to keep after I get my first bag/box. have any of you guys ever tried any of these subscription services, and if so which would you recommend trying?

Review | Nature Box Sampler

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

recently I decided to sign up for some subscription boxes. I signed up for Ipsy, Birchbox, Graze, and NatureBox so that I could try out some of the most popular subscription boxes on the market, and compare and contrast them, then stay subscribed to the ones I like the best. The first box I recieved was my NatureBox. When you sign up as a new member, you can get your first box free (plus shipping and handling which for me was $2.99). The first box is a basically like a tester box, where you can sample some of their snacks, and see which you like the best. It comes with one full-sized sample of and four individual serving packets of their snacks. Both my boyfriend and I tried all of snacks that came in the first box, and I have to say, they are all delicious! After your receive the first free box of samples, you then pay $19.95 a month for five of the full sized snack bags of your choosing. In addition, they have a wide variety of snacks to choose from on their website such as nut mixes, granola, popcorn and more. Overall, I think that these snacks are delicious, and I still can't believe that they are healthy. They are not only delicious, but also low in calories, and nutritious! The only negative thing I have to say is that the price is a little high to pay each month, BUT I do think that you get what you pay for, especially when you start receiving full sized samples. I think I'm going to wait until I receive next months box of full sized samples to decide if I want to keep the service or not, but so far it is looking like a keeper. I'll be reviewing my other subscription boxes as I receive them in the mail too.

New In | batiste dry shampoo + macadamia deep repair masque

went to TJMaxx the other day and picked out some hair products. I have been needing a new Batiste dry shampoo for a while now, but haven’t been able to find them anywhere near me, so I’m glad I finally got my hands on a new one. I have also always been interested in trying out the Macadamia products, but have avoided purchasing them because I wasn't sure if they were worth the price. They had the larger container for $20, but I decided I would try the smaller one first to see how I like it. I will be reviewing the Deep Repair Masque once I try it out a couple times.

Review | Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in "Champagne Pop"

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

I am typically not a huge fan of highlighters, but I just HAD to purchase this. I bought “Opal” about a year ago and I loved it so much that I decided to give this one a try as well. The Becca highlighters are a must have of mine because they have such amazing pigmentation and color pay off, so a little bit goes a long way. Just as the name suggests, “Champagne Pop” is a beautiful champagne color, which makes it unique. I’ve never come across a highlighter this color, so there was no question that I had to add it to my collection. This shade is limited edition and was developed by Jaclyn Hill, one of my favorite YouTubers. You can buy this limited edition shade in stores, and online at Sephora ($38).
