I finished nursing school!

after five years of incredibly hard work and dedication I'm excited to announce that I have finished nursing school. It was one crazy journey, but all of the struggles I faced made me the person I am today, and I couldn't be happier with the career path I chose. not only did I graduate with my BSN, but I will be moving back down to Virginia in the fall to begin a job as a cardiac nurse! I am so incredibly blessed to have such amazing family and friends who have supported me throughout this journey, and who believed in me and my ability to become an RN. I cannot wait for my next journey and what it holds for me, and to finally have those two letters after my name. NEXT STOP, NCLEX!

Year in Review | 2016 Favorites

Since it is New Year's Eve, I figured today was an appropriate time to post some of my favorite things about 2016. 2016 has been a year of both ups and downs for me. I have faced many challenges, but I've also had experienced many moments of personal growth. Although 2016 was not my favorite year to date, I think this year I have really found myself this year, and am finally truly content and happy with my life. That being said, I wanted to share my favorite things about 2016 as we say goodbye to 2016, and hello to the new year. Top four favorite things of 2016:
  1. Coffee: I have ALWAYS been a huge coffee lover, and I have been drinking it since I was a Freshman in High School, but this year I've gotten way more into coffee, and I have an unhealthy obsession. My favorite drink was definitely cold brew, so much so that the barista at my University's Starbucks calls me "Cold Brew Carly" now and starts making my coffee for me when I walk in. I guess you could say it has become routine for me.
  2. Spending Time with Friends: I have always love hanging out with my friends, but I always invest most of my time studying, that I don't find that I have enough time to have a normal social life. This year, I have made it more of a priority to spend more time with my friends, and enjoy my last year of college (you only live once).
  3. Focusing on Myself: This year has been a huge year of personal growth for me. I finally decided I needed to figure out what I must do in order to make myself happy, and attempted to achieve each one of those goals. Although I have a lot more to accomplish, I feel so incredibly proud of myself for working so hard to achieve the things that I have wanted for so long. It feels good to work toward personal growth, and it's taught me a lot about myself. Learning to be a little selfish has been SO fulfilling, and has made me learn to love myself.
  4. Trying New Things: This year I have tried a lot of new things and I mean A LOT.  I have hung out with friends more, taken new classes, tried new foods and become more involved in student organizations. I have never felt more daring and adventurous in my life, but I'm loving every second of it. I hope to do the same in 2017.
I am personally really looking forward to 2017, especially because I am graduating nursing school in May which is a HUGE accomplishment for me, and I can't believe I'm almost done. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

& P.S - This year I plan on blogging A LOT more. I lost the SIM card for my camera, and I have not been able to take pictures to post since I lost it, but I'm planning on buying one soon and will be posting again when I get a new one!

Review | ColourPop Cosmetics

For the longest time I have been hearing some of my favorite YouTubers talk about Colourpop and so I wanted to give their products a try. I did some research on their most eyeshadow and lipsticks shades and ended up buying two of their lippie sticks, and four eyeshadows. For the lippie sticks, I purchased the shades Dalia and Lumiere. In the super shock shadows, I purchased the shades Bill, Game Face (top), La La (middle), and Central Perk (bottom). I love the lippie sticks. I decided to buy matte shades because I have been loving the matte lip look lately. They go on really smooth and dry almost completely matte. I noticed that after I eating and drinking I had to reapply these but that tends to happen with matte lip products. The super shock shadows are stunning and they have gorgeous pigmentation. I think they are really unique because they have a cushiony texture instead of a powdery one. I find that these look best when you apply them with your fingers, but they also apply well with brushes too. Overall for the price you pay for these products, I think they are a steal. You get quality product without breaking your wallet. Both the lippie sticks and the Super Shock shadows retail for $5 each. The only complaint I have about Colourpop products is their packaging. I have placed three orders so far, and two of the three orders have come with mostly broken products. I spoke with customer service both times, and they shipped me new products. I really wish that they would spend some more time packaging the products so I didn't have the same issue twice but besides that, I would recommend trying them out because the products are great and you get $5 off your first order when you sign up with your email address. I have a more detailed review of these products on my YouTube channel as well.

Review | Kat Von D "Shade + Light" Palette

Around Christmas time I went into Sephora to spend some gift cards, and spotted this contour palette. Although I have been wanting it for a while, I put off buying it since I already own the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette. But, I finally decided to go for it, and I'm so happy that I did. This is by far the most amazing contour palette I own. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I have really been loving Kat Von D makeup products. I've tried their liquid lipsticks, foundation and contour palette now and have loved each and every product. This palette comes with six shades (three highlight and three contour). Even though there are only six shades they're great for light, medium, and dark skin tones, which is one thing I really like about this palette. Typically I use the middle highlight shade to set my concealer and brighten my face. These highlights are great because they are matte, not sparkly, so they're perfect for setting foundation or concealer and making your entire appearance brighter. For contouring I mix the first two shades (from the left). They give a more bronzed contour and don't look orange or muddy which a lot of other contour shades do. All of the shades both highlight and contour, blend well. This palette retails for $46 and can be found at Sephora and Ulta. I posted a YouTube video reviewing this palette as well if you all are interested.
