Five Ways to Make Extra Cash

1. Sell your unused items - I don't know about you, but I have A LOT of things both new and old laying around my house that are just taking up space. What better way to declutter and make some quick cash then selling some of your old things! You could go the traditional route and have a classic garage sale in your front yard, or you can do things online! I recently discovered an app called Mercari where you can buy and sell your unwanted items online. You can choose to ship the item yourself, or have Mercari make a prepaid shipping label for you then all you have to do is print the shipping label and ship the item. If you get the prepaid shipping label from Mercari, you can ship the item directly from your mailbox. If you choose to pay for shipping yourself, you can ship from your post office. Once the buyer receives the item, you get your money, and can request a direct deposit at any time. So far, I have made $645 from selling my unused items on Mercari. I have also bought a handful of things from the app as well. To get $10 off your first purchase using Mercari, use my referral code SWSHPJ (good for first time purchases only).

2. Get cash back - Many stores both online and in-store, offer cash back just for shopping. One of my favorite apps to use is Ebates. If you use Google Chrome, you can download the Ebates extension, and any time you shop online at your favorite stores Ebates will notify you if that store offers cash back. The cash back percentages ranges from each store, and some stores offer double cash back. There are thousands of stores that offer cash back on Ebates, but some of my favorite stores include Etsy, Ulta, Sephora and Kate Spade. In addition to getting cash back, Ebates provides coupons for some stores as well. So far, I've made $22 shopping using the extension. Ebates works using Paypal, so Ebates will deposit the money directly into your account for every $10 that you get back. Register here.

3. Take online surveys - There are various ways you can share your opinion online and get paid for your imput. My favorite is an app called "Surveys on the Go." Just put in your location, and the app will find paid opportunities for you. Surveys range anywhere from 1-10 minutes to complete, and even if you do not qualify you get $0.10. It may not seem like a lot of money, but after you do a few surveys it starts adding up. Some surveys even pay up to $50.

4. Babysit - This might seem pretty obvious, but babysitting is a great way to make some extra cash! This summer
I babysat for a few different families, and made some extra cash that I was able to use toward my first apartment. I found that the best way to get a babysitting job was through word of mouth, but there are also websites such as care.com where you can apply to babysitting jobs in your area! Many parents are looking for a date night sitter, or occasional weekday and weekend sitters which makes it easy to work with your current school or work schedule!

5. Become a tutor - This can either be in person or from your computer at home. You can apply to become a tutor on websites such as chegg. Pick the subjects you are interested in tutoring, verify your credentials and you are set. Tutoring generally requires more time than babysitting, and may require you to dust off your old textbooks, but is perfect if you are passionate about a particular topic or have an interest in teaching. The subjects range anywhere from high school to college level and include history, science, engineering, standardized test prep and even more!

I finished nursing school!

after five years of incredibly hard work and dedication I'm excited to announce that I have finished nursing school. It was one crazy journey, but all of the struggles I faced made me the person I am today, and I couldn't be happier with the career path I chose. not only did I graduate with my BSN, but I will be moving back down to Virginia in the fall to begin a job as a cardiac nurse! I am so incredibly blessed to have such amazing family and friends who have supported me throughout this journey, and who believed in me and my ability to become an RN. I cannot wait for my next journey and what it holds for me, and to finally have those two letters after my name. NEXT STOP, NCLEX!

Year in Review | 2016 Favorites

Since it is New Year's Eve, I figured today was an appropriate time to post some of my favorite things about 2016. 2016 has been a year of both ups and downs for me. I have faced many challenges, but I've also had experienced many moments of personal growth. Although 2016 was not my favorite year to date, I think this year I have really found myself this year, and am finally truly content and happy with my life. That being said, I wanted to share my favorite things about 2016 as we say goodbye to 2016, and hello to the new year. Top four favorite things of 2016:
  1. Coffee: I have ALWAYS been a huge coffee lover, and I have been drinking it since I was a Freshman in High School, but this year I've gotten way more into coffee, and I have an unhealthy obsession. My favorite drink was definitely cold brew, so much so that the barista at my University's Starbucks calls me "Cold Brew Carly" now and starts making my coffee for me when I walk in. I guess you could say it has become routine for me.
  2. Spending Time with Friends: I have always love hanging out with my friends, but I always invest most of my time studying, that I don't find that I have enough time to have a normal social life. This year, I have made it more of a priority to spend more time with my friends, and enjoy my last year of college (you only live once).
  3. Focusing on Myself: This year has been a huge year of personal growth for me. I finally decided I needed to figure out what I must do in order to make myself happy, and attempted to achieve each one of those goals. Although I have a lot more to accomplish, I feel so incredibly proud of myself for working so hard to achieve the things that I have wanted for so long. It feels good to work toward personal growth, and it's taught me a lot about myself. Learning to be a little selfish has been SO fulfilling, and has made me learn to love myself.
  4. Trying New Things: This year I have tried a lot of new things and I mean A LOT.  I have hung out with friends more, taken new classes, tried new foods and become more involved in student organizations. I have never felt more daring and adventurous in my life, but I'm loving every second of it. I hope to do the same in 2017.
I am personally really looking forward to 2017, especially because I am graduating nursing school in May which is a HUGE accomplishment for me, and I can't believe I'm almost done. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

& P.S - This year I plan on blogging A LOT more. I lost the SIM card for my camera, and I have not been able to take pictures to post since I lost it, but I'm planning on buying one soon and will be posting again when I get a new one!

Review | ColourPop Cosmetics

For the longest time I have been hearing some of my favorite YouTubers talk about Colourpop and so I wanted to give their products a try. I did some research on their most eyeshadow and lipsticks shades and ended up buying two of their lippie sticks, and four eyeshadows. For the lippie sticks, I purchased the shades Dalia and Lumiere. In the super shock shadows, I purchased the shades Bill, Game Face (top), La La (middle), and Central Perk (bottom). I love the lippie sticks. I decided to buy matte shades because I have been loving the matte lip look lately. They go on really smooth and dry almost completely matte. I noticed that after I eating and drinking I had to reapply these but that tends to happen with matte lip products. The super shock shadows are stunning and they have gorgeous pigmentation. I think they are really unique because they have a cushiony texture instead of a powdery one. I find that these look best when you apply them with your fingers, but they also apply well with brushes too. Overall for the price you pay for these products, I think they are a steal. You get quality product without breaking your wallet. Both the lippie sticks and the Super Shock shadows retail for $5 each. The only complaint I have about Colourpop products is their packaging. I have placed three orders so far, and two of the three orders have come with mostly broken products. I spoke with customer service both times, and they shipped me new products. I really wish that they would spend some more time packaging the products so I didn't have the same issue twice but besides that, I would recommend trying them out because the products are great and you get $5 off your first order when you sign up with your email address. I have a more detailed review of these products on my YouTube channel as well.
